The installation Contract/expand is an Acoustic and sculptural exploration of physical tension and release. A cloud of transparent adhesive tape lies on the gallery floor in an apparant stillness which is occassionally disrupted by spontaneous movements and sounds. Every morning before gallery opening, the tape is manually crumpled up and spends the rest of the day untangling in sudden spasms, sometimes causing unexpected reconfigurations of the sculpture.

Contact microphones and tiny speakers in the adhesive cloud constitute a sonic memory allowing visitors to experience an acoustic echo of previous movements.
